Water Kefir – Easy How To
I love making healthy probiotic drinks for my family and friends. I especially love if it’s easy to do and you can’t get much easier than Water Keifr.
Basic Water Kefir (tibicos)

Ingredients
1/4 C. Sugar
3-4 C. Water
1-3 Tbsp. Kefir Grains
1 Qt Jar
Directions
- Dissolve sugar in the water. (I often find that about 1/2 C of hot water from my kumkum is perfect to dissolve the sugar in and then I top it off with cold water.)
- Add the kefir grains into the your sugar water (if you've used boiling water to dissolve the sugar then make sure the water is cooler than 100* before adding the kefir)
- Cover jar with a thin square of fabric or a coffee filter, securing with a rubber band. Allow to culture at room temperature for 24 hours.
- Then strain off the liquid and start over again 🙂
Notes
- It's good practice to use brown sugar or add in a touch of molasses every couple of batches to keep your kefir grains healthy.
